The hospital complex, built using heavy prefabrication systems, comprises a building for 400 beds, with six operating theatres, for a total construction volume of 45,000 cubic metres. The six storey main building, a prefabricated reinforced concrete structure on piled foundations, houses the hospital wards, operating theatres, offices and facilities. A second smaller building houses the laboratories, outpatient department and A&E. The project also envisaged parking areas and green spaces. After the Akosombo Dam and the road infrastructure projects, this was Recchi's first civil construction works contract in Ethiopia.
